My Story
I am a design consultant and registered nurse who believes that the spaces we live and work in profoundly affect health and well-being. Drawing on more than 25 years of nursing experience and a Master of Design Studies in Designing for Human Health from Boston Architectural College, I focus on environments that promote safety, inclusion, and dignity for people across a wide range of abilities and life circumstances.
My background in community, home health, and long-term care taught me how closely health and environment are connected. Thoughtful design can ease stress, reduce barriers, and foster autonomy, belonging, and quality of life. My graduate research explored how long-term care environments influence caregivers’ energy, fulfillment, and ability to provide person-directed care, highlighting how evidence-based design improves both health outcomes and the experience of care.
I’m passionate about inclusive and trauma-informed design and use a salutogenic lens to focus on what strengthens health and resilience. Whether for a home or healthcare setting, I help people assess how their environments shape daily life and identify ways to make them more functional, restorative, and supportive.
Originally from Canada, I now live in Portland, Oregon, and continue to explore opportunities in research, writing, and consulting that bridge healthcare and design.
