Using tools such as the Environmental Audit Scoring Evaluation (EASE), I evaluate how senior living and long-term care environments support the people who live and work within them. This evidence-based assessment examines how design features influence autonomy, safety, comfort, social connection, and overall quality of life for both residents and caregivers.
The results include a clear scoring summary and an easy-to-read report that can guide renovations, capital improvement planning, or everyday updates. Depending on your needs, I can provide either a casual walk-through with feedback and suggestions or a formal EASE evaluation with a detailed written report. In both cases, I help translate findings into practical steps that enhance well-being, dignity, and connection for everyone in the community.

I can support design teams and organizations in creating environments that truly serve the people who live, work, and heal within them. My approach is grounded in evidence-based design and informed by years of experience in healthcare and aging services.
I can assist with early project planning and space programming, conducting interviews and needs assessments to understand priorities, challenges, and patterns of use. I also advocate for groups whose perspectives are often overlooked in the design process, ensuring that spaces promote dignity, safety, and belonging for everyone.
In later project stages, I can provide design review and post-occupancy evaluation to assess how well environments meet their intended goals. I work to ensure that design outcomes reflect evidence, empathy, and respect for the people they serve.

As a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS), I help homeowners and families explore practical ways to make their homes safer, more comfortable, and adaptable for changing needs. Recommendations balance accessibility, aesthetics, and dignity to support independence and health at home.

I’m interested in research and writing projects that explore how spatial design influences well-being, relationships, and the experience of care. I can contribute to collaborative projects with design teams, care organizations, or researchers by helping to evaluate environments, interpret findings, and translate insights into design recommendations or quality improvement strategies.
With a background in both nursing and design, I bring an understanding of how environments shape the daily realities of caregiving and living. I’m especially drawn to topics related to long-term care, trauma-informed design, and aging in place.
You can read my Articles & Insights to see how I approach these themes and how evidence-based design principles can be applied in practice.
